Kingston Train Station, on Wentworth Avenue, is Canberra's main train station and CountryLink trains offer good connections throughout Australia and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Regular trains travel from Canberra's central Kingston Train Station to Sydney and the journey lasts around three hours. Although there is no direct train from Canberra to Melbourne, Canberra's CountryLink transport service provides a coach and train service to Melbourne, lasting around nine hours.
Most trains in Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) are modern, in good condition, clean, fully air-conditioned and feature good general train facilities. Bicycles are allowed on trains during off-peak times and also on Saturdays and Sundays.
